In a heartwarming initiative aimed at ensuring uninterrupted education for girls in rural areas, the Girls Pad Project, under the auspices of the Total Woman Network, made a significant stride on May 28, 2024. Not only did they generously donate menstrual products to these deserving girls, but they also introduced Pad Banks, heralding a sustainable solution to period-related challenges in schools and communities. This monumental effort was made possible through the invaluable support of sponsors and volunteers who passionately believe in the cause of empowering young girls.

The list of sponsors includes esteemed entities such as the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Ofori Sarpong of Special Ice, Mr. Bismarck Doodo of Regal Roofing GH, Mr. Stanley Tamakloe of TMK Metals, Dee-Kay Car Rentals, Mr. Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey of Yazz Products, SJ Creativity, MOGA 86 Year Group, and Lala Kuks, the renowned philanthropist and Kuks Music Min. representative.
However, the initiative doesn’t stop at providing essential products. The Girls Pad Project also conducted educational workshops, featuring Menstrual Card training sessions. These workshops served as a platform to impart crucial menstrual health knowledge to the girls, empowering them with the information necessary to navigate this aspect of their lives confidently.
The impact of this initiative extends far beyond the material donations. It signifies a collective effort towards fostering health, dignity, and empowerment for every girl child. By addressing the often-overlooked issue of menstrual hygiene management, the Girls Pad Project and its partners are championing a cause that resonates deeply with the ethos of equality and inclusivity.
The schools that were fortunate beneficiaries of this initiative include NDODA D/A JHS/PRIMARY SCH. NSAWAM, DANSO D/A ANGLICAN JHS/PRIMARY SCHOOL- NSAWAM, TORTIBO PRESBY JHS/PRIMARY, DANSO D/A ANGLICAN JHS – NSAWAM, TESHIE CAMP 2 CLUSTER OF SCHOOLS, and TESHIE LEKMA SOUTHERN CLUSTER OF SCHOOLS. Each of these schools now stands as a beacon of hope, where girls can pursue their education without the hindrance of menstrual-related challenges.

As we celebrate this milestone achievement, let us collectively reaffirm our commitment to empowering every girl with the fundamental rights to health, dignity, and knowledge. The Girls Pad Project invites everyone to join them on this transformative journey towards a future where every girl has the opportunity to thrive and realize her full potential.
